Genodix Announces Resequencing Project

While some consider the sequencing of the human genome to be finished, Genodix scientists have determined that there are small sections in the genome which require special sequencing techniques. "At first biologists figured that these small, hard to manipulate sections were simply junk repeats," states Genodix chief scientst Carl Pauling. "Instead, it's turning out that these genomic domains are extremely important regulators of many major biological processes. There are some major advances that can be made by studying them."

Dr. Pauling's track record of following his hunches all the way to a blockbuster drug has no small influence on the amount of attention these genomic regions will be getting. "Following Carl's scientific intuition has paid off handsomely for Genodix in the form of multiple novel drug discoveries," notes Genodix CEO William Genter, "so we intend to give him anything he needs in regards to these genomic regions. Facilities, funding, outside contractors--whatever he feels is necessary. We're dedicated to seeing this through."

Studying these key regions is quite a challenge, however. In the past they have been virtually impossible to sequence by any of the standard techniques, requring Genodix scientists to develop new methodologies of genomic cloning, manipulation, sequencing, and assembly. Dr. Pauling's team has made some progress, however "dealing with these tiny genomic segments has proved to be one of the most difficult problems I've ever faced," he explained. "But I'm 100% sure there's something of immense value in them." With the leadership of Dr. Pauling and his team of outstanding scientists, along with the dedicated support of CEO William Genter, Genodix will surely be the first to crack this problem and convert the knowledge into much needed medical treatments.
